In 1985, Dr. King graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California at Berkeley. She attended Medical School at Creighton University School of Medicine and was a member of the Medical Honorary Association and Alpha Omega Alpha. It was here that she began her interest in hearing and balance disorders and did research with dynamic posturography and its use in children with dizziness.

Internship and residency were undertaken at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in the departments of General Surgery and Otolaryngology. Dr.King was named The Department of Surgery Intern of the Year in 1986. During her residency, she published several articles, including the lead article in the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery journal of the academy on localization of cytokines in cholesteatoma tissue in chronic ear infections. She took her subspecialty training under the auspices of the Texas Neurosciences Institute and the Ear Medical Group, training in locations as varied as San Antonio, Texas; Barcelona, Spain; and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Since her fellowship, Dr.King has been in the private practice of Otology and Neurotology at the Ear Medical Group. Her current research interests are otoacoustic emissions and electrocochleography. She is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology, and is a Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, contributing to the training of surgical residents.

Dr. King is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Sunshine Cottage School for the Deaf and is serving on the Women in Medicine Committee of the Bexar County Medical Society.

Dr. King's practice focuses on disorders of the ear and related structures, particularly disorders of hearing and balance. She surgically treats tumors of the temporal bone, cranial nerves, and the base of the skull.
