About Brian P Perry
Dr. Perry graduated from Saint John's University in 1988 with Cum Laude Honors. He attended medical school at The University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was a member of Medical Honor Association, Alpha Omega Alpha. He published his first scientific paper about otitis media in children while at Nebraska. He was awarded the Waldron Cassidy Award in Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was an Honor Graduate.
He did his residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Duke University. He published articles primarily focusing on the neurophysiology of the inner ear. He was awarded the Association for Research in Otolaryngology Travel Award in 1996. Dr. Perry did his fellowship training in Neurotology at The University of Iowa from 1997-1999. While there he wrote book chapters, and articles on the field of otology and neurotology. He subsequently developed his interest in pediatric disorders of hearing and balance. Dr. Perry was given the Barry J. Anson Memorial Teaching Award in 1999.
Since his fellowship, Dr. Perry has been in private practice in San Antonio, as well as being a Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at The University of Texas Health Science Center. His research interests involve the neurophysiology of the vestibular system and hereditary hearing losses. He began an educational program entitled "Young Ears" in the San Antonio Independent School District (Grades K-3). He has presented at numerous scientific meetings both nationally and internationally and is a member of a variety of medical societies.
He continues to be a leader in the field of otology and is a member of the prestigious Triological Society. He is a member of the American Neurotologic Society, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the Bexar County Medical Society.
Dr. Perry focuses his practice on the care of patients with problems related to the ear, facial nerve, and skull base. This encompasses the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of hearing, balance, cranial nerves, and tumors of the base of the skull.
